Paul Merton
Paul Merton appeared in the British version of Whose Line from 1988 to '93.

Terrific at scenic games like Film and Theatre Styles, Paul Merton was was the first person to host Party Quirks, paving the way for those after him. He was also a terrible singer, though he got through many Marches successfully.

Paul worked very well with Tony Slattery and Sandi Toksvig. He presented many musicals with Sandi in Musical Producers, and had many terrific scenes with Tony.

For some reason, Paul tended to make fun of Josie Lawrence on the show, to the extent that she was visibly embarrassed. The most notable example of this was in Expert Translation. Josie spoke in Swedish about Volvos. Paul's translation was an explanation on how she likes to have sex with horses. However, it is said that it is a lot easier to make fun of someone you like, and as Paul and Josie are good friends this certainly appears to be the case here.

Currently, Paul is a team captain on Have I Got News For You. He also presents a series on silent comedy; Paul Merton's Silent Clowns. Also, Merton has been a long time regular panelist on BBC Radio 4's Just a Minute. He also tours the country with his own improv troupe, Paul Merton's Impro Chums, which has included Jim Sweeney, Richard Vranch, Lee Simpson, Josie Lawrence and Mike McShane among its members.
